T. Roy Dutton's Close Encounters
I have forgotten just how our paths crossed - those of Roy and Marian Dutton and myself. It seems reasonable that it was one day in Marlborough, in front the Merlin Hotel, when this lively 60ish man reeking of a definite purpose in life approached me, standing there on the street. At one time or another one will run into almost every notable name in circles research staying at the Merlin and perhaps having just a half pint in the tiny pub there. It was my friend George Wingfield, the culprit who first introduced me to the wonderworld of cropcircles at one of his lectures a Dallas Texas hotel. Then followed my interest in the general UFO subject and on and on until I was accompanying an expedition to Wiltshire for the purpose of circles research. A call to George in England got the favor of a booking at the Merlin for my group and a meeting with George. This was before my meeting and becoming friends with Colin days.
Let me give you a little background on T. Roy Dutton by excerpting a recent article in the Exeter Express and Echo: "Expert Reveals UFO evidence the headline says followed by EXETER: We are being visited by very advanced beings.
The green welly versus green men debate took a new twist during a meeting in Exeter. Former British Aerospace engineer Roy Dutton told Devon Crop Circle Group's annual conference he may have an answer to the phenomenon.
The brief article goes on to state that he believes that the circle patterns are caused by advanced alien exploration vehicles which hover a few feet above the countryside using laser beams to prove the surface. I have to remember to ask him next time we talk - Why the advanced and very definite patterns? Are they messages? etc, etc.....
Roy and his charming former school teacher wife Marian have been investigating UFOs for almost 30 years and have specialized in the cropcircles phenomenon for the past eight years. Right after I met Roy he told me a story that will be in my mind the rest of my life. A lady living in the area was driving down one of the many farm roads one day when a tremendously bright light appeared above stalling her car in the middle of the road. And, all of a sudden a very old 1930's vintage black car just appeared seemingly out of nowhere directly in front of her stalled car. Peering out of the rear window of this old black car and looking right into her eyes was a very startled face.
Mr. Dutton's possible explanation of this unforgettable scene was that the brilliant light and the stalling of this local lady's car was caused by an overhead UFO - You know, the usual story of what happens when a UFO appears suddenly over your car while you are driving down the road. Then this appearance of the UFO caused a time distortion and the old black car appeared from back in time traveling down that road in the 1930's. Can you imagine the shock of that lady in 1930 seeing the newer model car from the future stalled on the same road behind her with the UFO overhead? Perhaps there were three time periods represented, Mr. Dutton theorized, the UFO being from our future?
And, another one of Roy's stories that really - and I mean later really - caught out attention was about the black tube that fell from the sky one day into a farmer's field. When the farmer walked toward what looked to him like a section of black sewer pipe the thing just rose slightly above the ground, made a few patterns, and then took off at a great rate of speed back into the mysterious sky from which it had come. Then about a week after hearing this story we were driving through northern Scotland one day and I pulled a letter from my purse that I had received recently from the mother of our alien hybrid friend in Cabo Rojo. For a short time everyone had become preoccupied and quite riding through the countryside and I decided to ask Ruben Uriarte to translate the letter for me - since my Spanish is so poor. Among other interesting phenomena happening in Puerto Rico that Juana usually writes to me about was an account of her walk along Combate Beach where the family does some occasional fishing. She came upon what appeared to her to be a black tubular object. When she came a little closer it just stood on one end, began making circle patterns in the beachsand, and then shot off into the sky not to be seen again. Ruben looking very startled handed the letter to our other Spanish speaking expedition member, Michael Lloyd, who verified his interpretation as correct to the astonishment of the now attentive entire expedition group! Upon opening Roy Dutton's X-Files you would find computer models, star charts, photographs, video footage, mathematical analysis, logs of know UFO sightings and geographical connections, and even a working model of a flying saucer that he engineered and built.
And this body of evidence he has accumulated coupled with a firm belief that we are not alone in this universe has convinced Roy that he is watching aliens watching us.
According to the news article Mr. Dutton says that cropcircles couldn't be the result of swirling winds because the flattened plants stems remain undamaged. And he rules out the ococult explanationa because the circles are so precise and uniform that only a machine could have produced them. He told me once that he believes the energy used is a form of gravitational microwave radiation - a source of quick high heat which would cause the plants to bend quickly at the nodes in the typical 90 degree angle fashion when beamed precisely at just that location. And not even six pints of your uncle's crumpy and a dilapidated Massey Ferguson can give you the power to alter the cell structure of the plants, he stresses. Video film has shown two spheres of light darting across a field as if controlled by a higher intelligence even before the footage of the cropcircle forming that Colin was given last summer. Photographs that have been taken in and around cropcircles in the past cature similar unexplained Willo-the-Wisp blobs of light which go unseen by the naked eye.
