BEYOND BOUNDARIES BRAZIL EXPEDITION -- JANUARY '98

ONE CONFIRMATION of the BLENDING OF SCIENCE and the PARANORMAL -- Part I

By Joyce L Murphy

Meet Jorge, a Scientist at the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espacias

I suppose all of you have read Barbara Marciniak's book, Bringers of the Dawn? I did and thought I should consider it with "a grain of salt," as my mother used to say. Interesting idea but is this coming Photon Belt a factual scientific event? I decided to wait for more proof that she is channeling from high level sources. These "bringers of the dawn" are actually the "family of light", Barbara says, consciously creating a new reality and a new Earth. I thought at the time I was reading her excellent book, "there is nothing new under our sun", as the old-timers say and our sun can never change. Then we met our first teacher along this Odyssey of Discovery, on our Brazil Expedition of '98. When the student is ready the teacher will appear.

I want you to travel with me on these first days of our Beyond Boundaries' Brazil Expedition to the huge southern coastal city of Sao Paulo, to the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais, (Brazilian Space Research working with NASA), and to meet the real people of the Sao Jose do Campos region. We arrived Sao Paulo airport on Jan 14th, '98, and were met in baggage claim by Jorge (pseudonym) of the Institute and by a couple of local people representing a metaphysical group in that city. Jorge, whom I had met through the Internet, had ridden his motorcycle many kilometers from San Jose do Campos in order to meet us upon our arrival. "So nice for you to go to all this trouble," I told him. I was a little disappointed when we decided to spend time speaking to the metaphysical group first instead of driving immediately to Sao Jose dos Campos with Jorge. But planned itineraries must be quickly altered to "carpe momentum." All objectives are achieved but not necessarily in any preplanned order on these expeditions. Flexibility and spontaneity, we have learned, are the keynote to gathering the most interesting of research findings.

Our team loaded luggage into our first VW Kombi rental van of this adventure and we followed the metaphysical leader on a wild "chase the black BMW" game. Driving on those freeways from hell and through the crowded streets was a total nightmare. "Should I just close my eyes, focus on the black 'Beamer', and function as the driver by ESP," I silently asked myself? Getting off the plane here after a night with no sleep, with the strange language (Portuguese) everywhere made even finding the right toilet a difficult situation. Arriving safely at our tiny hotel in the heart of the city via our un-airconditioned packed Kombi; I almost kissed the ground when I was finally able to unglue my hands from the steering wheel. But all of us had instantly formed tougher nerves, stronger reflexes and the ability not to scream during minor crises. This was a primary expedition, meaning it was the first time to conduct research in Brazil and everything was equally as new, unfamiliar and strange to members of the expedition as to their leader, me.

It was with great pleasure that we welcomed Flavio to join us for our few days in that part of Brazil. He was a member of the metaphysical group, spoke some English so was sent to act as a "go between" his group and our team. He accepted our offer of this non-paying position and became our new driver, first taking over the wheel to transport us to the meeting place that afternoon. Some of the members of this metaphysical group had been receiving spiritual telepathic messages supposedly channeled to them by ETs. When our expedition members related stories from contactees we had met all over the world who had given the same information about the future of the planet, the prophecies of cataclysmic events, etc., several people invited us to dinner later at a restaurant in close proximity to our hotel for further discussion. What a long day and we were so tired from no sleep on the plane the night before that soon after the intense discussion we collapsed into our beds for the night.

The next morning after breakfast Flavio expertly chauffeured us to Sao Jose do Campos to meet Jorge at the Brazilian Space Institute. We parked outside the gated facility and asked the guard to tell our new friend there that we waiting. In a few minutes he came down the several hundred-meter road on his motorcycle to lead us to our new hotel in that town. After we checked in there it was lunchtime and Jorge took us to a really good place where the "real" people of the town eat. After lunch we to Jorge's nice home for a short visit to see his many photos of UFOs and anomalous lights or fireballs(?) in the night sky. Many such likeminded new friends around the planet have cordially invited us into their homes. This opportunity affords us, as members of the Beyond Boundaries expedition, the privilege and experience of meeting the real people in each country and learning more about them. And, of course, each and everyone of these "real" likeminded people are invited to our BB headquarters and home in Texas, an invitation accepted by countless such new friends throughout my years in this research.

That evening Jorge led us out of Sao Jose dos Campos to meet his group who were waiting for us in another little town several kilometers away. We enjoyed the drive through the countryside out to a rural and beautiful location where his friends had seen and filmed UFOs many times in the past. We had supper at an open air road stand - interesting food and drink - joined a party of celebrating villagers (didn't find out what the occasion was) for a great time. We later walked down a path through a forest soon coming to a clearing where a huge bonfire was already burning and a larger group of local people were waiting for us. Jorge, who speaks perfect English (learned from his stays in Houston working with NASA), was our interpreter and we began our intimate international sharing of UFO information.

The group's acronym is GEONI (Grupo de Estudos de Objetos Nao Indetificados), and they are actually located in Taubate, state of Sao Paulo. According to a member on the expedition, who wrote an article for Beyond Boundaries Newsletter, Issue 10, the group conducts their independent research through direct observation. GEONI is coordinated by Alexandre Minoru Ito, who is a respected researcher in his own right and who is a contributing editor to Revista UFO Brazil. He and his colleagues exemplify the best of the many young Brazilian ufologists. Nighttime sky watches are held, much like this planned evening, to record and document first hand sightings of any anomalous lights or other worldly space craft encountered at such UFO hotspots as the Taubate Valley.

Most sightings in this area, Jorge told us, are of the "fireball" type OVNI commonly seen throughout Brazil and the Americas. However, the triangular and saucer shaped crafts have also been sighted. Tom tells us, in his Beyond Boundaries article, that the "fireball" type OVNIs are of particular interest because stories of this kind of sighting have been documented in the pre-Columbian art and oral history of the Americas and by archeologists, anthropologists and historians for many centuries now. The "Madre de Oro" or "Mother of Gold" legend tells of fireballs streaming from the sky impregnating the earth with gold. This legend parallels other stories from Mexico that tell of god / men coming to earth on gold orbs of fire. The current speculation is that the fiery OVNIs may be here mining "energy" from the plentiful quartz crystal found throughout Brazil.

Several anomalous lights in the sky were witnessed by all present. Fireballs or just lights, we do not know but the intense discussion of fireballs often seen there continued for a couple of hours. There were enough people present fluent enough in both Portuguese and English to accomplish the task of proper interpretation - or so we trust. This circle of information sharing brought the group, (regardless of any language difficulty), into a closely-knit likeminded circle of friends, some of whom which are still in touch with BB expedition members.

On the ride back to Sao Jose dos Campos, I had the privilege of sitting next to Jorge. This convenient seating arrangement in the Kombi gave me the opportunity to ask any questions that were still unanswered in my mind concerning the successful mix of science and the paranormal, as well as the approaching Photon Belt.

Jorge, during my constant barrage of questions, explained to me a short version of his spiritual beliefs, which he believes can be connected to the ET phenomenon. He belongs to a Spiritualist Church in his town and works as a medium with those who have passed over to the other side. From what he told me about the beliefs of his church as well as a little research I did when I returned home, Spiritualism is the science, philosophy and religion of continuous life based upon the demonstrated fact of communication, by means of mediumship, with those who live in the Spirit World. God's message to mortals, declaring that There is No Death; that all who passed on still live; that there is hope in life beyond for even the most sinful.

Spiritualism teaches personal responsibility and that as a man sows on Earth, he reaps in the life to come. Also the members of the Spiritualist church believe that every soul will progress through the ages to heights where God is Love, that man is a spiritual being now, encased in a physical body for an Earth experience, and that communion between the living and the dead is repeatedly proven through competent mediumship. So therefore the ultimate results of such belief is to remove all fear of death.

"Well, what about the coming photon belt," you must be asking? First we need a short definition for those of you who have not read about this truly scientific phenomena. The photon belt is reportedly a band of intense photon light that is near Earth at this time. Every 25,000 to 26,000 years our solar system completes one orbit around the central sun of the Pleiades, Alcione. This cycle around the central sun has been called Yugas by Eastern religions. Alcione is known to the East as Brahma, the seat of creative power or universal magnetism. The actual orbit of our solar system has one point on it closest to Alcione and another farthest away from it. The photon belt mentioned was discovered by means of satellites and encircles the planets of the Pleiades, at a right angle to its orbital planes. Our sun orbits the Pleiades once every 25,860 years but reaches the midpoint of the photon belt approximately every 12,500 years. Earth began entering the sphere influenced by this photon belt in 1962 and will enter its mainstream by 2011. This correlates with the time when the universe reaches its point of maximum expansion. The energy of the photon belt is etheric or spiritual but interacts with the physical. More than one popular, well-known author mentions this information in his or her material.

(See http://www.spiritweb.org/Spirit/photon-belt.html for more information.)

Following these many hours spent with Jorge we became fast friends and later I communicated more with him via e-mail. He had described a little of his work at the Space Institute. His job there is to program the PC payloads of the balloons sent up to observe and measure gamma rays produced by photons. And, we all have read lately of the increase in number of those gamma rays which somewhat baffles scientists around the world. There were some key words that sparked more questions from me for Jorge than he could possibly answer while we were together. Later following consultation in my behalf with some of the scientists at the secret institute in Sao Jose do Campos he confirmed that NASA as well as his employer are very concerned with the study of these gamma rays which are becoming more frequent. Jorge also confirmed that there are changes occurring that are causing their increase in numbers but when I mentioned the term "photon belt" he agreed with all but the word belt - because, he said, photons do not bend - light does not bend. But we now know that light can and does bend (knowledge received after I met Jorge). So the term belt was the only part of it not confirmed in what was included in this channeled information in a popular new age book. Jorge, himself, accepts the idea of the channeling of information procedure, from the dead, from ETs, or simply from spirits. The dead, with whom he communicates through his church are in the spirit world, possibly correctly termed as another dimension.

This experience in Brazil with Jorge is my first case (several more cases follow in other stories) I am presenting to you involving the combining of hardcore science and the paranormal. Continuing on this Beyond Boundaries primary expedition to Brazil we came across other cases and stories to support the hypothesis that UFOlogists in Brazil many times are also scientists as well as holding metaphysical spiritual beliefs.
